MODIFIED & FLAT DECK ROOFING

Modified roofing is a roofing asphalt. Materials, such as layers of fiberglass or polyester, are added to the asphalt to add strength to a flat roof.

Modified roofing has excellent waterproofing features, and the cost of installation is competitive with other materials when compared on product lifetime. Modified roofing has high tensile strength and, in general, has excellent weather resistance.

TYPES OF MEMBRANES FOR FLAT ROOFING

  1. Built-up Roof Membrane (BUR): Assembled in place using multiple plies of asphalt- impregnated felt bedded in bitumen.
  2. Elastomeric/Plastomeric Roof Membrane: Sheet materials applied to the roof in a single layer
  3. PVC (polyvinyl chloride): A thermoplastic compound commonly known as vinyl.
  4. Chlorinated polyethylene and chlorosulfonated polyethylene sheets: Highly resistant to ultraviolet deterioration and can be manufactured in light, heat-reflective colors.
  5. Polymer-modified bitumens: Formed into composite sheets with various other materials.

A flat roof is a type of covering for a building. In contrast to the more sloped form of roof, a flat roof is horizontal or nearly horizontal. The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch: Roofs which are nearly flat are known as low-pitch roofs (as the angle of slope increases, so the pitch is said to increase). Any sheet of material used to cover a flat or low-pitched roof is usually known as a membrane and the primary purpose of these membranes is to waterproof the roof area.

Flat decks as balconies serve as relaxing platforms that provide enjoyment to the observation of your property or the local landscape. They may extend out from the side of a building structure or they may be built in over a living area below.
